At Woodhouse, phonics is taught across EYFS and Key Stage One in order to develop strong and confident readers and writers. In order to do this we have chosen and designed our own scheme of Phonics. We follow the sequence of letters from the governments document ‘Letters and Sounds’. To supplement and compliment this we teach the children the rhymes from Read Write Inc. to support the children to write letters using the correct formation. Our learners benefit from the actions which they are shown from Jolly Phonics. The combination of these three schemes accommodates all our learners needs and has had a positive impact on reading and confidence at Woodhouse. This has prepared and continues to prepare our children to succeed in the Year One Phonics check.
