Initial
Teacher Training
Here at Woodhouse Primary Academy, we are very proud to work in partnership with the Institute of Education- University of Wolverhampton to play our part in developing the next generation of inspirational teachers.
We have undergraduate and postgraduate students on placements throughout the year, working closely with the university tutors to support and develop their practice in line with teacher standards.
As teachers, this provides us with the opportunity to develop our own practices through supporting others, whilst always keeping the teaching standards at the forefront of our minds.
Supporting students allows us chances to reflect on teaching and learning developments, to examine aspects of our roles through continued professional dialogue, to learn from others and to explore new approaches in the classroom. This enables us to provide an excellent education experience for us all.
Through our links with the University, many of our staff have had the opportunity to undertake a MA in Education. This high quality learning experience allows them to build upon their existing skills, experience and qualifications, to develop further skills, knowledge and understanding and apply these to their roles here at Woodhouse.
A number of our previous students are now a valuable part of our teaching team here at Woodhouse, undertaking a range of responsibilities across the key stages, including middle leader roles.
In February 2019, we were highly commended by The University of Wolverhampton for the ‘Best School Support’ provided for student teachers. Our nomination for this award spoke of how our welcoming and supportive staff encouraged and guided those who were training or gaining experience.
