School Cabinet
The Woodhouse School Cabinet is made up of one class representative from each class from Years 2 - 6 and The Rainbow Room as well as our Head Boy, Head Girl and three additional Year 6 children to represent Nursery, Reception and Year 1.
Children who wanted to represent their class on the Cabinet made a written application to express their interest. Candidates were then shortlisted anonymously based on their applications. Once candidates were in place we held an election at our polling station where each child cast their vote on who they wanted to represent them on the Cabinet. Following this process, our School Cabinet was formed. We currently have 17 children serving on the Cabinet.
Our School Cabinet meets at least twice each half term and discusses all aspects of school improvement along with our Learning Mentor and Head Teacher.
In December 2018, our Cabinet were lucky enough to have a visit from our local Member of Parliament, Preet Gill MP. Our Cabinet showcased what our meetings are like and got the chance to have a Q&A session with Preet, finding out all about her job role and how it is similar to theirs.
Our School Cabinet has already achieved many things to help improve our school. Our current dining room was designed by the Cabinet, our menus have been revamped thanks to their feedback, the KS1 playground has received a trim trail, enclosed football pitch and a quiet zone and as of November 2018, they are working on improvements to the KS2 playground.
The current Cabinet will serve for the entirety of this academic year before it is dissolved in July ready for the process to begin again.
Green Team
Children on our Green Team will be responsible for looking after the environment around them. They will champion recycling within their classrooms and help to look after our school environment. Our Green Team carry out tasks around the school such as: emptying recycling bins, litter picking, turning off lights and computers if they're not in use and generally keeping the school nice and tidy.
All of our Green Team members are volunteers and the team is made up of children from Years 3 - 6.
Play Buddies
Our teams of Play Buddies from Years 5 & 6 lead activities at lunchtimes across all year groups. They encourage and help children to get involved in a variety of games at play times. This not only provides extra activities for children, but builds on the leadership skills of our older children. The Play Buddies ensure that no one is left out and that everyone has something to do if they want to or someone to play with.
Techno Team
Woodhouse Primary Academy is proud of the high standard of ICT that is taught throughout the school, and it now has its own dedicated Techno Team; a group of individuals who are capable of supporting other children and staff in using the technology found in school. Our band of specialists are able to support and help children in using iPads and Chromebooks, and also helping staff members with any technical issues that may arise.
Every morning they set up classes with the necessary hardware and at the end of the day they make sure that all technology is being charged up ready for the next day.
