Art offers children the opportunity to learn about the visual world. Through art children gain an understanding and appreciation of the methods and motives of people from other cultures and times.
In art activities children learn how to handle a wide range of tools and materials skillfully so they can express their own ideas and feelings. At Woodhouse we value our young artists and are very proud of the high level of work produced. Art is delivered to children from Nursery to Year 6 by an experienced subject specialist. Pupils build upon skills in all areas of art work-drawing, painting, printing, clay and 3D, digital imagery and textiles. The formal concepts of art are also taught - line, colour, pattern, texture, shape, form and space.
Children who are experiencing difficulties emotionally are given the opportunity to work individually or in small groups on a tailored art therapy programme.
